My website address is: This is c.mckane’s personal website. The purpose of is to serve as a personal health blog, digital CV, and as a writing portfolio.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

I don’t like having my personal information bandied about needlessly online, so I endeavor to limit the data I gather from you.

  • We’ll only ask for necessary personal information. (Such as your email to opt-in correspondence.)
  • We won’t share your personal information with others except to comply with the law, develop products, or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of our site.


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


You are not permitted to upload images at this time.

Contact forms

Currently, utilizes WPForms plugin. The Lite version does not use cookies and the additional user details described below are not collected. In addition, with the enabled GDPR Enhancements selected, user IP addresses are not collected via contact forms.

Cookies utilizes Jetpack plugin for our WordPress site which provides a pop-up cookies disclosure.

If you leave a comment on the site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Users are not permitted to register on our website at this time.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Aggregated Statistics

c.mckane may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For example, spam is screened by the Akismet service to help identify and delete spam. c.mckane may display this information publicly or provide it to others.
